HORROR HOOTENANNY 13 Questions with JEANO ROID COFFINBERRY

THE HORROR HOOTENANY is days away!
Dr. Gangrene's 13 Questions rolls on..
Today's victim is JEANO ROID from THE CREEPING CRUDS!

Name and weapon of choice in the band:
Jeano Roid Coffinberry. That's my real name and I play horrific guitar in The Creeping Cruds.

Favorite movie monster?
Frankenstein, the Monster. He didn't ask to be ugly. I feel a kindred spirit..

Best horror movie you've seen recently?
Watched The Curse of Frankenstein the other night. Such a great flick.

Remakes: Yes or No?
Up til 83 or so (The Thing), yes. All those Hammer films were technically remakes. That's the best horror out there. But all these current remakes are simply shite. Evil Dead remake was a turd as were all the slashy 80's characters being redone in the past 20 years. Not fun, not entertaining. Just bad.

What bands inspired you to play music?
The Ramones, The Cramps, Alice Cooper, BOC, Turbonegro, Forbidden Dimension. You know, the good bands.

What do you like to do when not playing music?
I make monsters and mess around with bulldogs. Friends are good too.

Munsters or Addams Family?
Both

Favorite song to play live?
Salem is a fun riff. And I'm sure people don't know what to make of it. It's just rock n roll y'know..

Favorite moment on stage/tour?
Always simply watching Handsome Jimmy. He is the most entertaining bass player in rock n roll.
That fuckin' goof.

Misfits, Ramones, or Cramps?
Ramones, Cramps (close 2nd) then Misfits.

Pet peeves?
I hate when pets peeve on my carpet.

Favorite Halloween memory?
Way too many to narrow down to one. It's been a lifetime love affair. I do a yard haunt every year, which is featured on my Jeano Roid Flickr page. If you can figure out where I am you are invited to come check it out.

What would you like to have written on your tombstone when all is said and done?
Put your ear to the ground. Thats me knocking?

HORROR HOOTENANNY 13 Questions with HANDSOME JIMMY

Dr. Gangrene is interviewing the people of THE HORROR HOOTENANY.
13 Questions each.
Today's victim is HANDSOME JIMMY from The CREEPING CRUDS

1. Name and weapon of choice in the band:
Handsome Jimmy, low-end guitar with 4 strings and those turny things on top for decoration.

2. Favorite movie monster?
Gojirrrrrraaaaa!!! Hands down; best movie monster ever.

3. Best horror movie you've seen recently?
The one with the guy who finds that thing but it’s like totally possessed or possibly broken and he’s all like “I gotta get rid of this thing” but he can’t just throw it out cuz he like totally lives near a daycare or nuclear waste dump or something so he tries to sell it and then some kid spills water on it and the devil comes out and he’s all like “uh-oh” so he fights the demon-thing with like a broom handle and a flame-thrower and then he accidentally burns down a church and his whole family gets cursed except for the one kid who is like adopted or something and that kid turns in to a mutant and fights spider-man. I think Bill Pullman was in it, or maybe Bill Paxton.

4. Remakes: Yes or No?
Yes, please. Just keep going until you get it right.

5. What bands inspired you to play music?
Led Zeppelin, New York Dolls, The Moviees, Beau Brummelstones, the Mosquitoes

6. What do you like to do when not playing music?
Rescue orphans from fires, help old ladies cross the street, eat pizza, watch videos of people getting hit in the nuts.

7. Munsters or Addams Family?
Munsters!

8. Favorite song to play live?
Now that it’s back, “I sold my Brain” is classic Jeano material. Dood’s a genius. No question.

9. Favorite moment on stage/tour?
Anytime McNasty falls onstage, hilarious!

10. Misfits, Ramones, or Cramps?
Cramps baby!!! Also, the Ramones.

11. Pet peeves?
People who pick two things from a list of three things.

12. Favorite Halloween memory?
Where I grew up, it was either really beautiful out, or there was a blizzard.
Every other year. So, I guess I have great memories of every other Halloween. Trick or treating in your snowsuit was awful. No one could see how scary my clown costume was. Also, there was one year when four kids in my subdivision were murdered by Satanists. That was fun too.

13. What would you like to have written on your tombstone when all is said and done?
“Look out! He’s behind you!” I’m kidding, no one should ever spend money on a tombstone.

Whatta waste.

Horror Hootenanny Interview Series - JIMMY HANDSOME from THE CREEPING CRUDS

Who the hell are ya and what is your job in the band (details)?
I'm Jimmy Handsome and I play the bass guitar and sing harmonies with Wolfie's sweet sweet crooning.

What did you do musically before The Creeping Cruds (bands etc)?
I have played in bands since I was 14, mostly playing the bass, in everything from straight up metal (the Bloody Nuns in Labor), to alt-rock (The Lovematics), to psychedelic mod rock and roll (The Moviees).

What are your favorite/most influential bands?
Hmmmm...this week: Black Sabbath, the Zombies, the Small Faces, the Who, the Ramones, any band where I can watch Jean-O Roid play the gee-tar.

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks?
I dig mostly old Japanese monster movies. Mothra is my favorite, but Godzilla vs. anyone will do.

What movie scared you the most?
Header, by Archie Flancranston. It made/makes me nauseous.

Most overrated Horror movie?

I don't really dig slasher stuff, I need a serious element of the supernatural to get freaked out. I walked out of those Rob Zombie flicks (House of 1,000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects) feeling a little robbed. Like I'd been all hopped up on adrenaline with no payoff...those would be the ones.

Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?
Steven Van Zandt from the Sopranos and the E Street Band. He was really helpful to the Movies and used to play us on the Underground Garage on Sirius/XM. My favorite was meeting Rod Argent from the Zombies. Dude's a genius.

What Creeping Cruds song is your favorite to play live?
They're all really great and fun, there's a bunch of new ones that are killer too that people haven't heard yet that we'll debut this month and next. I think my perennial favorite has always been "Tennessee Bloodbath", but Jean writes a new song and you're like "damn girl, that's finer than the last one!"

Hoot 8 Interview Series - WOLFIE from THE CREEPING CRUDS

I'm a shaggy ass old dirty dog, that cheated death and it's cousin. My job is to get every soul in da place hootin', hollerin' and HOWLIN songs of blood and Crud.

What are your favorite/most influential bands?
Black Sabbath and Ramones. Plain and simple.

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks?
I like monsters and spooks! Frankenstein, The Thing, Exorcist, THEM!!!

Most overrated Horror movie?
I don't know... no accountin' fer taste.

What movie scared you the most?
As a young pup, I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic church. So when The Exorcist came out, it was not really considered fiction. And to top it off urban legend around St. Louis where I grew up held, that the kid the story was based on was locked up for a time in the attic of the Catholic hospital right around the corner from where I ran.

After seeing the movie I decided to read the book. Well one night after lights out, I was telling my little brother all about the movie and the book. We shared a room. My bed was under the window that sported one of those old fashioned roll up shades. You know the ones that are notorious for having a spring break and whip up and slap around making that loud flopping sound.

Anyway, one night I was telling my little brother about the Exorcist story, the devil and demons and how stuff in the little possessed girl's room was moving and flying around all by itself.

We laughed and joked nervously about how that was a bunch of bull when suddenly the shade directly over my head slowly went up... a stopped half way. Like some invisible hand decided it wanted me to see the moon. GULP!

We said good nights. I pulled the blankets up over my head and did not sleep a wink that night.

Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?
I don't bother them people. Don't like to scare people unless they come lookin' to be scared.

What Creeping Cruds song is your favorite to play live?
The next one on the set list?

What is one cool thing the kids may not know about The Creeping Cruds?
Kids who been to a show know this but for those of you who ain't? If you pay at the door you WILL RAWK IT with the Creeping Cruds and the House will DRIP BLOOD!!!

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks? Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera...Old school horror films. I particularly like the old silent films.

Never really been scared by movies...but, Jacob's Ladder...not really a horror film persay, that movie freaked the hell outta me.
