Hoot 8 Interview Series - NUMBER SIXX from THE COFFIN BANGERS

Who the hell are ya and what is your job in the band?
I am the monster behind the mic, and the fiend of the six string for the vampire hunting punk rock group the coffin-bangers....they call me Number Sixx
and well my creation is some what of a horror story in its self and it goes like this.....
On a damp cool night in a small Texas town some time around 1931, A small town boy took his small town girl for a stroll down lovers lane . As he was rounding 3rd base he was tagged out by a local vampire by the name of DR. Vincent Phibes...What was created from this one night of passion and blood letting was the monster you see before you ...

What did you do musically before Coffin Bangers?
Before the coffin-bangers i fronted a no debunked punk rock band Freedom 35 along side my brother Mr. Coffin Kenny Lincoln

What are your favorite/most influential bands?
At a young age i was exposed to all forms of music from honky tonk to hair metal...The 1st bit of music i really latched onto had to be my home state heroes Buddy Holly and The Crickets..My all time favorite band has to be ...no surprise here The Misfits.weather its 1977 misfits , The American Psycho years, or the new school Misfits fronted by Mr. Only himself

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks?
Wow thats a hard one ....when it comes to vampire flicks has to be 1987s The Lost Boys"im watching it as i wright this"..Werewolf flicks has to be American Werewolf in London..Slasher flicks out of the big 3"Nightmare on Elm St. Friday the 13th and Halloween" i have to take Friday the 13th . Jason just creeps me out along with his crazy ass mom. Every one knows a true monster can only be created by an over bearing mother . But ruling out the "big 3" i would go with the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I grew up in Texas and till the age of 13 i thought it to be true ..Zombie movies um the original Night of series along with City of Rott

What movie scared you the most?
As a kid American Werewolf in London scared me so so so bad...But i have to say Decent scared the hell out of me ...

Most overrated Horror movie?

Any remakes I HATE UM!!!...People are not that hard to scare i I think we can come up with a few new stories to tell ...

Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?
Um i dont know i dont do the celebrity thing ...So let say ummm my favorite persons iv got to meet over the last few years has to be Joe Queer of The Queers . Hes a great guy and called my girl friend at the time the C word

What CB song is your favorite to play live?

As of now its the new one "the One" ...but anyone who plays music knows your new song is all ways your favorite song till the next one you write ...Besides "the one" i am in love with playing "Susie Danced Naked in the mortuary" i could play it all day and night. It always feel better to play a song about a real life encounter ;)

What is one cool thing the kids may not know about The Coffin Bangers?
The Coffin-Bangers are the real deal ...While most horror punk bands tend to focus one writing songs based on movies...We live the horror movie ..We are what we claim to be ...We are grave robbing psychotic monsters from beyond the grave!

Hoot 8 Interview Series - WOLFIE from THE CREEPING CRUDS

Who the hell are ya and what is your job in the band (details)?
I'm a shaggy ass old dirty dog, that cheated death and it's cousin. My job is to get every soul in da place hootin', hollerin' and HOWLIN songs of blood and Crud.

What did you do musically before The Creeping Cruds (bands etc)?
It don't matter. HOWL for me NOW!!!

What are your favorite/most influential bands?
Black Sabbath and Ramones. Plain and simple.

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks?
I like monsters and spooks! Frankenstein, The Thing, Exorcist, THEM!!!

Most overrated Horror movie?
I don't know... no accountin' fer taste.

What movie scared you the most?
As a young pup, I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic church. So when The Exorcist came out, it was not really considered fiction. And to top it off urban legend around St. Louis where I grew up held, that the kid the story was based on was locked up for a time in the attic of the Catholic hospital right around the corner from where I ran.

After seeing the movie I decided to read the book. Well one night after lights out, I was telling my little brother all about the movie and the book. We shared a room. My bed was under the window that sported one of those old fashioned roll up shades. You know the ones that are notorious for having a spring break and whip up and slap around making that loud flopping sound.

Anyway, one night I was telling my little brother about the Exorcist story, the devil and demons and how stuff in the little possessed girl's room was moving and flying around all by itself.

We laughed and joked nervously about how that was a bunch of bull when suddenly the shade directly over my head slowly went up... a stopped half way. Like some invisible hand decided it wanted me to see the moon. GULP!

We said good nights. I pulled the blankets up over my head and did not sleep a wink that night.

Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?
I don't bother them people. Don't like to scare people unless they come lookin' to be scared.

What Creeping Cruds song is your favorite to play live?
The next one on the set list?

What is one cool thing the kids may not know about The Creeping Cruds?

HOOT 8 Interview Series: STEVE-O NEGATIVE from SPOOKHAND!

Who the hell are ya and what is your job in the band (details)?
Steve-O Negative and I play guitar.

What did you do musically before Spookhand (bands etc).
I had an 1950's UFO-hysteria themed techno-punk project called Alien Urchin. Curious minds can find rough demos on MySpace or YouTube. I've also had a song released on a compilation album under Polish label. It was recorded for a metal band I worked on for several years.

What are your favorite/most influential bands?
My musical tastes run vast. Misfits, The Ramones, The Queers, Nightwish, Overkill, Dragonforce, Blitzkid, Creeping Cruds, The Independents, The Creepshow, Powerwolf, and so on...

What are your favorite/most influential horror flicks?
Piranha, Night of the Living Dead (original 1968 version), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Mouth of Madness, Robert Wise's "The Haunting," Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), JAWS, The Bride of Frankenstein, Rosemary's Baby, Rubber

What movie scared you the most?
The only movie to truly scare me was Stephen King's "IT." Well, at least until I finally finished the movie and saw the ending. Worst ending of all time. I hear the book is much better, but the movie ruined it for me.

Most overrated Horror movie?
The SAW series, hands down.

Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?
I've met several including Faith Hill and Ben from Breaking Benjamin. The only one I cared for, though, was Willy Nelson. I ran into him at a mall- quite literally. I came around the corner and we slammed into each other!

What Spookhand song is your favorite to play live?
Bloody Murder! It was the song that gave us our first encore, too (FYI).

What is one cool thing the kids may not know about Spookhand?
Spookhand's first band name was Ice Wagon. We were set on that one, but during the next practice we decided that the more we said it aloud, the more we hated it! If that's not enough.

Your favorite Horror Hootenanny memory?
My favorite memory was the first Hoot we played. At the time of our first Hoot, we had only played a couple of shows, so this was the biggest and most nerve racking to date. We were still getting our feet wet and wasn't sure how people would react to our songs. I was so nervous that I stared at my guitar most of the set, but when I finally looked up (and to my surprise), we had an amazing mosh pit going. That was an incredible feeling.
